Resident. Locally common in England and Wales and isolated records from Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

Discovered in the east of the county at ChurchStoke in 2013.

Wingspan :   M & F 7.5-8mm.

Confusion species

Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species.
Flight time & Voltinity (Bivoltine)

Habitat

Most commonly found in the wetter parts of the country.

Foodplant

Crack willow.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva usually mines the edge of the leaf causing the leaf roll under, forming a tube. The pupa is pale to dark brown in a brown cocoon attached to the mine.
